"Blood"
Storyboard #11
Bottled,
bagged or fresh from the source;
nothing else quite satisfies. |

1. Nick is called in from his vacation
and ordered by Capt. Stonetree to go undercover
at a 12-Step center to help solve a murder
from within the group. He asks Nat what
she thinks about 12-Step programs as they
relate to him and his desire to give up
drinking blood. She reminds him that it's
the blood that keeps him from coming across
and that it wouldn't hurt to give the 12-Step
method a shot. With that little bit of
encouragement and orders from Stonetree,
Nick soon finds himself sitting with a
group of assorted addicts, listening to
sponsor Monica Howard's words of inspiration.

2. After the meeting, Nick is personally
welcomed to the group by Monica, then introduced
to Hilary who tries to talk him into seeking
another group to join. As they're conversing,
Henry, another member shows up. He tells
Nick what a great sponsor Monica has been
for him and makes it no secret that he'd
like to keep her all to himself. Although
Monica tries to play down his flirting,
it's obvious to both Nick and Hilary that
Henry is making sexual overtures towards
his sponsor.

3. While on his way home, Henry is approached
by someone he knows outside of his apartment
building. Catching him off guard, the person
knocks him unconscious, then injects him
with enough drugs for an overdose. Later,
at the murder scene, Nick gives Stonetree
a list of the other members in the group.
He then attempts to follow the first step
of the 12-Steps program. He tells Schanke
that he is an addict. Schanke figures that
he's referring to all the red wine he keeps
in the fridge, but refuses to believe that
Nick is addicted to it and laughs the matter
off. Seeing how poorly step one went, Nat
inquires, "What's step number two?"

4. Nick takes the next step by ridding
his home of the stuff to which he's addicted.
He pours all of his bottled blood down
the kitchen drain, then goes to bed. As
he sleeps, Nick dreams of standing at a
podium confessing his addiction to blood.
He suddenly begins an uncontrollable shaking
as the podium begins to bleed. LaCroix
shows up carrying Monica who offers to
help him. "Who can help your hunger?" asks
LaCroix. "Your craving for the warm, sweet
taste of blood?" Unable to control his
beast as LaCroix bids him to yield to his
thirst, Nick succumbs to his hunger and
makes a feast of Monica.

5. Nick jerks awake, blood sweat beading
on his forehead and the hunger calling
to him. He hurries into the kitchen and
begins pouring the tiny remnants from each
bottle into one. Before putting the barely
filled bottle to his mouth, he stops himself
and thinks about what he has learned so
far in the 12-Steps meeting. He puts down
the bottle and goes for the phone to call
for help.
